Mercer Country Stop – Water Supply
Fraser Thomas were engaged to provide engineering design services for the provision of a water supply for the “Mercer Country Stop” – the SH1 Service Centre at Mercer, comprising a petrol station, multiple fast food outlets and other shops.
This project involved the upgrade of a dysfunctional, poor water quality, unsafe water supply system into a state-of-the art small water supply groundwater extraction, treatment and conveyance system.
- Groundwater sampling and analysis of laboratory results and assessment of appropriate treatment methodologies to remove iron and manganese.
- Drawdown investigation of existing bore.
- Condition assessment of existing groundwater bore, water treatment plant, storage and reticulation system.
- Design of upgrade to bore pump supply.
- Condition assessment of existing groundwater bore, water treatment plant, storage and reticulation system.
- Preparation of FIDIC design and build contract documentation and supervision of construction for a replacement 30m3 per day water treatment plant comprising multiple cartridge filtration, water softener, reverse osmosis, carbon filtration, ultra violet disinfection and hypochlorite dosing. Monitoring of a pilot study to confirm the adequacy of the water treatment plant proposed.
- Liaison with Drinking Water Assessor and preparation of a PHRMP for the water supply system, which has been accepted.
- Observation of the water treatment plant upgrade.
