Due to our increasing workload, we have a position available for a senior level Civil Engineer to join our Auckland office. This position will include a wide range of duties including a variety of (but not limited to) the following:

  • Land development including roading and landform design of small to large, residential and industrial projects on greenfield and brownfield sites.
  • Water, wastewater and stormwater reticulation and treatment
  • Concept through detailed design, consenting, contract management and construction observation.

Applicants must have the following attributes in order to meet our requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Six years plus experience in civil engineering work in NZ and be capable of undertaking the entire civil engineering project management through to completion.
  • Proficient in engineering design software and stormwater design software.
  • Preferably CPEng with a strong focus on civil engineering. Strong candidates getting close to their CPEng application may also be considered.
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand and hold a current NZ driver’s licence.

We are looking to employ an intermediate level Civil Engineer in our Auckland office, to be involved on an interesting array of projects in our Civil team, including:

  • Roading and landform design of small to large, residential and industrial projects on greenfield and brownfield sites

There is an opportunity for an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our Auckland office, to work in our Environmental and International teams.  This position will involve NZ based project work as well as overseas work, primarily in the Pacific and South East Asia.  Tasks will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Project management
  • Wastewater feasibility studies and design
  • Water supply feasibility studies and design
  • Environmental science
  • Solid waste management planning
  • Stormwater related planning and design

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A relevant degree in environmental engineering/science
  • Minimum of 3 years detailed design and site assessment and observation experience in environmental engineering work in New Zealand
  • Proficient in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D or equivalent), stormwater design software (eg MIKE, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS) and/or wastewater design software (BioWin)
  • Familiarity with relevant Codes of Practice, NZ Standards, technical publications and guidelines
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand and hold a current NZ driver’s licence.

We have a position available for an intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Highbrook office, focusing on contaminated land work.  The successful applicant will be involved in an interesting array of environmental work, primarily in the Auckland region but also in other parts of NZ, including Canterbury, Central Otago, Hawkes Bay, Waikato and Northland. These works range from:

  • Contaminated land: preliminary and detailed site investigations, development of site management and remedial action plans, resource consent applications, remediation supervision, site validation and long term monitoring.
  • Environmental monitoring services (e.g. surface and groundwater quality sampling, analysis and reporting; landfill and ground gas monitoring, analysis and reporting; erosion and sediment control monitoring and reporting).
  • Preparation of environmental management plans and assessments of environmental effects for a wide range of development activities.
  • Water, wastewater and stormwater; solid waste management and landfills.

This position will suit someone who likes variety and working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment – you will not be stuck in a corner doing the same thing for months at a time!

The successful applicant will work under an appropriate level of supervision, but will be expected to learn quickly and develop to the point where they are able to take project and investigation work from inception to reporting and subsequently to provide supervision and training to junior staff. There is an opportunity for the right person to be able to progress to an Associate level within the company.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in environmental engineering/science and/or geology/geotechnical engineering.
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand and a current NZ driver’s licence.
  • Ideally 3-5 years experience in environmental science work, preferably with at least 2-3 years contaminated land experience. Asbestos experience useful, including qualifications in asbestos building survey and/or asbestos assessor.
  • Experience in the use of the MS Office suite, particularly Word and Excel. Some AutoCAD experience useful or similar software for producing drawings for reports summarising sampling locations and results.
  • Familiarity with relevant Codes of Practice, NZ Standards, technical publications and guidelines (e.g. MfE Contaminated Land Management Guidelines, National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil to Protect Human Health).

As well as possessing the key attributes as noted under the Current Vacancies title on the left hand side of this section, candidates would also possess the following competencies:

  • Willingness to work in two or more different areas (e.g. contaminated land, environmental monitoring/reporting).
  • Project/client focused, and willing to put in extra hours to meet project deadlines from time to time.
  • Ability to work to time and budget and to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Keen to work towards Certified Environmental Practitioner (Contaminated Land) status.
