Having heard great things from others in the construction industry (and other industries for that matter), looking to further his own skills and ways to enhance our business, our Structural Engineering Director, Kane Miller from our Christchurch office recently completed the Icehouse Owner Manager Programme. From July to November last year, Kane partook in five block courses at various locations across NZ, and with a follow up session in Auckland this year. This took a huge effort to find the time to fit this in, as well as running a business, maintaining a busy work schedule, and also home life with two young kids. Well done, not only to Kane, but also his brilliant support team around him at work and at home.
Kane picked up a lot valuable knowledge, skills, and ideas, and also formed some great connections both within his group, and the huge Alumni network. It is certainly interesting to hear that most businesses face the same or similar challenges, whether they are in construction, transport, IT, manufacturing industry, etc. In Kanes own words, “the course has changed the way he thinks about business”, and we are already seeing the benefits, with several initiatives already being implemented within our company.
Whilst the content, speakers, facilitators, and Icehouse staff were great, apparently the real learning and best connections were formed after hours at the bar!
