Te Whāriki Subdivision
This 350-Lot subdivision in Lincoln required numerous challenges to be addressed during the design and construction phases, and offers residents more than just a home.
Any building or development project starts from the ground up and requires geotechnical input. Fraser Thomas has a strong team of Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering geologists with a reputation for thoroughness and innovation, enabling us to assist you with all aspects of soil and ground investigations.
Fraser Thomas’ Geotechnical team have extensive experience with sub-soil investigation and analysis for residential, commercial, industrial and multi-storey building foundations and site development. The purpose of the investigation is to determine the characteristics of the soil at a particular location.
CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION AND PS4 GEOTECHNICAL CERTIFICATION
Fraser Thomas’ Geotechnical team can undertake construction observation and provide PS4 Geotechnical certification for the construction of building platforms, including site excavations etc, as per the Council building consent conditions. We undertake inspections and certification of the building platform stripped subgrade, footing excavations, compacted hardfill and clayfill, foundation pile bores and retaining wall pile bores.
Fundamental to our work in Canterbury has been the appropriate assessment of the liquefaction potential of the soils in Christchurch City and the broader Canterbury region. Fraser Thomas engineers are familiar with the most up-to-date methods of liquefaction risk assessment, and are able to provide recommendations to the most appropriate foundation systems for liquefiable soils throughout New Zealand. We are familiar with the latest ground remediation techniques, which are used to mitigate the risks of soils being subject to liquefaction.
Settlement modelling and appraisal that is required to be carried out to assess the risk of potential or ongoing ground movement associated with settlement and differential settlement during any proposed or existing land development or construction work.
Fraser Thomas has extensive experience and knowledge in the assessment of potential or existing settlement risks for sites and can provide appropriate recommendations and parameters for foundation design and remediation to ensure that foundations are not adversely affected by future ground movement.
Council may require you to undertake a flood assessment if you wish to develop your property and if your property is located within one of these flood hazard areas, or you may like to assess the risk of flooding to existing buildings on your property for your own peace of mind.
In order to provide reliable recommendations for remedial measures for damaged buildings, the cause of the observed damage requires to be reliably determined. The determination of the cause of damage involves “forensic engineering” techniques, which involve an iterative process of investigation and appraisal in order to eliminate possible causes, and determine the most likely cause.
Fraser Thomas’ Geotechnical team have extensive experience with assessment of damaged dwellings and buildings to determine cause of damage and provide remedial solutions to structures or land.
SLOPE STABILITY
Slope stability investigations/modelling and analysis and design of remedial works that is needed to be carried out to assess the risk of potential or ongoing slope movement during any proposed or existing land development or construction work.
Fraser Thomas has extensive experience and knowledge in the assessment of slope stability risks for sloping sites and can provide appropriate recommendations and parameters for foundation design and remediation to ensure that foundations are not affected by future ground movement or reactivation of historic slope instability features. Fraser Thomas can also undertake rock slope stability investigations and provide rock bolting design. We use up to date software to undertake slope stability analyses and have a team of trained engineering professionals that have provided successful foundation solutions for sites that require slope stability assessments, throughout New Zealand.
Excavatability Investigations
Excavatability investigation and analyses of a site to establish the strength and density of the soil and determine the most appropriate and effective methods to remove earth materials. Fraser Thomas have a strong team of Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists to undertake a full analysis of your site.
